Laura Silk, MD, FACOG is an OBGYN who has a private women’s medical practice based out of Emerson Hospital and with offices in Concord, Westford & Leominster.

AFA, which stands for All Female Associates, is an apt name for the group as Laura’s passion is to have a welcoming and affirming office run by women and for women.

Laura grew up locally, attending Middlesex School and Harvard University, and has always tried to keep movement as a part of her life. In High School, she did a competitive dance troupe and then later moved on to Cross Country Running, Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. Over the years, she continued to try to squeeze in time for exercise – running a marathon, skiing with her family, and coaching her daughter’s lacrosse teams. But as the years passed and the work demands creeped in, priorities had to change. A cancer diagnosis and a slew of surgeries pretty much destroyed her endurance base and what little core strength she had from her younger years.

Ultimately, it was Bodylines, and private lessons with Louise, with her kind attention and skilled advice, that was instrumental in getting Laura back in a healthier body, and mind. Starting with the basics, rebuilding her core, and getting her to move thoughtfully has allowed her to continue to be active, as well as get her through long days in the operating room. Bodylines has always resonated with Laura because it is also run by women to support women. Kim Casto does such a great job creating such a warm and inviting space for women!

With all of this in mind, Laura looks forward to exploring the menopausal transition, emphasizing medical options that can help mitigate some of the undesirable changes with Bodylines clients. The goal is not to reverse changes – because after her cancer diagnosis Laura realizes that aging is better than not getting the opportunity to age – but rather to age gracefully. It is fitting that this talk is in collaboration with Bodylines because, as Laura will explain, movement is the best medicine for women during all phases of their lives. Laura looks forward to sharing with you all!
